This presentation was delivered as part of the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum: Virtual Gathering in August 2021 by Oral Saulters and Eric Sheets with KSU Tribal TAB, and Mark Junker with Sac and Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska.
Through brief presentations, interactive small group exercises, and facilitated dialogue, participants will explore ideas, successes, lessons learned, and resources at the intersection of tribal lands and Brownfields revitalization. By addressing such key questions as, ‘How do we re-awaken our relationship with our neighbors, the Earth, and all its inhabitants, while re-igniting our collective responsibility as stewards of our common future?’ and ‘What lessons can we learn from COVID-19, environmental justice, community resilience and healing lands in Indian Country?’, this session will provide guidance in applying important principles and using practical tools to ensure more sustainable, restored lands, and healthy communities. Attendees will help guide strategic priorities for tribal brownfields.
