This presentation was delivered as an On Demand session at the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum: Virtual Gathering in August 2020 by Dr. Ted Jojola and Michaela Paulette Shirley University of New Mexico, Ignacio Dayrit Center for Creative Land Recycling and Scott Nightingale Kansas State University.

Environmental issues affect tribal and non-tribal communities. Livelihoods, homes, sacred sites, recreation, and industry interests often clash - there are incompatible goals among various stakeholders. How can communities communicate these issues using constructive - not confrontational - ways. This workshop explores various exercises and methods that all stakeholders can use to facilitate in-person and virtual interactions, and exchange that help participants see various viewpoints and identify potential solutions. At the end of the 90-minute session, participants will have learned of some tools that can be used for meetings, remote session, workshops, education and mediation, and skills to apply with their communities.
