This presentation was delivered as part of the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum: Virtual Gathering in August 2021 by David Jones and Denise Roy with US EPA.
Participants in this session will provide the foundation for the conception of new and improved tribal solid waste training curriculum. These new courses will be developed by EPA’s American Indian Environmental Office (AIEO) and Office of Resource Conservation and Recovery (ORCR) teaming up with the Indian Health Service (IHS). AIEO/IHS have co-funded an ongoing Interagency Agreement to develop solid waste codes/ordinance training for tribes which is an excellent way for tribes to build their solid waste program capacity. AIEO/ORCR/IHS want to expand the training opportunities beyond solid waste code/ordinance development by seeking input from session participants on their specific solid waste needs. The input from this brainstorming session will then guide the development of new and improved tribal solid waste training coursework.
