This workshop focuses on the primary characteristics of geographic/population zones associated with longer life expectancy and reduced health issues. Individuals in these zones are generally healthier, happier, and live longer than the average population. The primary purpose of the workshop is to use the characteristics of healthy regions to inform a public health model that could be applied to any community, population, or geographical area. The program will include a presentation of research demonstrating the health impact of each of the characteristics of a healthy zone, provide success stories on changing each of the characteristics, as well as recommendations for implementation, research, and policy.
