This presentation will be history of the SCEDEN (South
Central Environmental Exchange Network) Consortium and how it has achieved
rapid success in it's continued expansion project over several Exchange Network
grants. The main object of the consortium has always been the same, provide
tools and resources to help meet the growing needs of our tribal partners. At
the center of this is a reused technology (GS Elements), that allows partnering
tribes access to not only a data management solution for water quality (and
flow to WQX), but also ATTAINS, AQS, Fish Consumption Advisories, and Open
Dumps tracking. The project has also helped to facilitate regular on-site
trainings and continued outreach/support that have helped to further perpetuate
our tribal partners success. All in all, this integrated approach to data
management has been pivotal for easing the burden of staffing turnover through
cross training across one platform for many programs as well as for adding more
tribal programs or assisting current programs in growing their own projects,
increasing the capacity of the consortium as a whole.
The intended audience of this presentation is for anyone interested in learning
from the successes (and lessons learned) of this tribal consortium for their
own data management ideas for their own program, region 6 tribes interested in
joining our consortium, or EPA/other interested stakeholders to share stories
on another Exchange Network Success case study. Attendees need to bring nothing
except themselves and any questions they may have. Our intended display would
be a PowerPoint presentation but internet access would be a huge bonus if
possible to show attendees the public portal with our consortium's publicly
available data!
