This presentation was delivered as part of the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum: Virtual Gathering in August 2021 by Mickey Hartnett with the KSU Tribal TAB, Ray Reed with the Turtle Mtn. Band of Chippewa Indians, Wilfred Lambert with the Fort Peck Tribes, and Mark Junker with the Sac & Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska.
The CERCLA 128(a) Tribal Response Programs and EPA Brownfields programs conduct a wide range of activities related to the identification, assessment, cleanup and reuse-redevelopment of properties and buildings. This is not accomplished alone and typically relies on a significant level of coordination with other tribal programs, and provides assistance to many other tribal programs and priorities. This session will provide a basic overview of the Brownfields program and a sharing of experiences by tribal Brownfields staff on the many instances of intra-program coordination that is beneficial to accomplishing the goals of many programs.
