The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry’s Land Reuse Program provides free technical assistance to environmental professionals and planners to engage communities with concerns about the environment and environmental justice. In this live, interactive session, attendees will learn about and practice two community engagement techniques: 1. Photo essays to drive community change, and 2. The 4-step Action Model to engage communities in assessment and cleanup of contaminated properties. Attendees can focus on sites of concern in their own communities or existing example scenarios. Links to these techniques will be provided, including Action Model Toolkit electronic and printed materials for use during the session. Objectives: attendees will build skills in different community engagement techniques
This presentation was delivered as part of the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum in August 2022.
