Along the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers, shared community engagement needs and overlapping project timelines have fostered mutual understanding and amplified cultural narratives. Sharing lessons learned from one project to another while defining the similarities and remarkability of each site, cultural knowledge and expression have had a broad reach and impact. These sites have a common cultural thread that links cultural places while celebrating the distinctive nature and purpose of each site as part of Dakota Homelands, setting the stage for future Indigenous leadership.
This session explores environmental remediation practices on or near Superfund sites, Tribal lands, and Tribal communities. Participants will learn capacity building tools for fostering collaborations within their own communities while emphasizing the importance of expressing cultural heritage at Indigenous sites.
