This presentation was delivered as part of the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum: Virtual Gathering in August 2021 by Michele Amhaz with the Environmental Protection Agency.
This presentation will provide information on two exciting EPA grant programs that tribes may wish to consider applying to help businesses prevent pollution at its source before it is even created. EPA’s Pollution Prevention Program anticipates releasing two multi-media grant solicitations (Pollution Prevention and Source Reduction Assistance) in January/February 2022 to announce the availability of funding to federally-recognized tribes, intertribal consortia, state agencies, state/tribal colleges/universities and others. P2 grants offer funds to deliver pollution prevention technical assistance (information, training, and tools) to businesses who lack information about pollution prevention or who have difficulty incorporating pollution prevention into their facility operations due to costs or expertise. SRA grants offer funds to deliver pollution prevention technical assistance (research, education, training, demonstration of innovative techniques and more) to technical assistance beneficiaries representing federally-recognized tribes, intertribal consortia, states, local governments, and others receiving technical assistance. This presentation will provide background and scope on both programs, match and cost share information and tips for submitting a successful application.
