This presentation was delivered as an On Demand session at the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum: Virtual Gathering in August 2020 by Lisa Castilone GRID Alternatives, David Messier Tanana Chiefs Conference, Ignacio Dayrit Center for Creative Land Recycling and Douglas MacCourt Red Sovereign Resources LLC.
Tribes rely on the environment for their food, home, and work. And energy. Renewables have the potential to sustain a home, a community and the entire tribe. These possibilities will be explored: the types and scale of renewables installations and the application to tribal situations; job training opportunities for tribal members; technical issues for community and utility-scale, funding, technical assistance and other issues. At the end of the session, participants will learn more about the sources for technical assistance, planning and implementation, and partners that can make these happen.
