This presentation was delivered as part of the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum: Virtual Gathering in August 2021 by Tracy Horst with the Choctaw Nation, Mya Sjogren with the US EPA, Valerie Vines with the US EPA, and Kim Cochran with the US EPA.
In this session, attendees are invited to engage with EPA to inform the development of the National Recycling Strategy’s Implementation Plan and to identify how they wish to be involved in the Strategy implementation. EPA anticipates releasing a National Recycling Strategy in the summer of 2021. The Strategy outlines the actions needed by stakeholders from across the recycling system to enhance recycling in America, including federal, state, local, and tribal governments, industry, and non-profits. The National Recycling Strategy reflects the public comments received in late 2020 and emphasizes President Biden’s priorities, including climate change and environmental justice. EPA anticipates releasing the Implementation Plan, with input from tribes and other stakeholders later this year and will document the commitments made by various stakeholders to contribute to activities in the Strategy.
