The goal for this session is to have interactive dialogue about environmental self-determination and underground storage tanks (USTs) including an open conversation among Indian Nations about their experiences and approaches to preventing UST releases. It will feature UST Program highlights from Indian Nations including their experiences with:
- Preserving and protecting natural resources and people
- Shared goals of protecting natural resources and prioritizing public health while respecting nations’ sovereignty
- Good tank management on Indian Nation lands, including the importance of UST facilities to the community from cultural and business (for profit and non-profit) perspectives
- Successes and tips, including use of reputable UST contractors
- Indian Nation-EPA-state response to a petroleum release on Indian Nations’ lands.
