This presentation shares the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes' journey from historical open dumping practices to operating a modern transfer station that protects public health, preserves natural resources, and serves the Duck Valley Indian Reservation. Attendees will learn about the history of solid waste management within our community, the planning and partnerships that made the transfer station possible, and the day-to-day realities of operating a rural tribal waste management program.
