We propose to provide successes of relocation housing programs with the Navajo Abandoned Uranium cleanup project and exercising Navajo sovereignty to attain justice in protecting human health and environment long term. Vivian Craig will present our hard work in helping families relocate which substantially improved the lives of tribal members living near radioactive mines. She will also discuss successful job training and employment for Navajos on the legacy waste construction. Nona Baheshone will present our work on use of Navajo Fundamental Law and Navajo CERCLA to address issues regarding cleanup of legacy waste on Indian allotments and trust lands. After each of two PowerPoint presentations, we will have question & answer session to engage the audience. We can provide any requested information and resources. Attendees should include tribal members working or planning remediation of hazardous or radioactive sites.
