Place-based knowledge and pedagogy foster a
worldview that emphasizes the sacredness of places, stories, songs, ceremonies,
and history—vital elements for the survival of the Navajo people. By centering
on the Navajo perspective, this approach enhances the understanding of social
relationships across all facets of life, including oneself, others, sacred
spaces, the environment, the cosmos, and all living beings, all through
language integration.
