Can you afford to provide residential solid waste services? Have you undertaken rate analysis or developed a fee structure? This session will highlight a national effort to calculate cost of solid waste services and development of a funding strategy on your behalf. Come learn how representatives from seven geographically dispersed Tribes are influencing federal efforts to identify a consistent and reliable source of sustainable solid waste funding for Tribes. There currently is no long-term consistent source of O&M federal funding. With the Biden-Harris Administration’s focus on Tribal communities through the White House Council on Native American Affairs and Executive Order 14112 on Reforming Federal Funding and Support for Tribal Nations to Better Embrace Our Trust Responsibilities and Promote the Next Era of Tribal Self-Determination, now is the time to revisit this long-standing Tribal need. EPA is working with Tribal partners on a three phased approach with the goal of seeking a Congressional funding appropriation for Tribal solid waste operations and maintenance. Your Tribal experience and input are critical to this effort. Join this session to have your voice heard and your input represented on this critical project.
