In the aftermath of the devastating Tenyo Maru spill of 1991, the Makah determined to build capacity and leadership in oil spill preparedness, planning, response, and NRDA to protect Makah treaty rights and resources in a self-determined manner. Come join a discussion of some of the Makah's experience and how to apply the various lessons learned to advance your own tribe's oil spill planning and preparedness. The NPFC will review funding availability and processes for tribes engaged in response, natural resource damages assessment, or seeking damages in the aftermath of an incident.
