This session will be an overview of the complex Portland Harbor Superfund Site (Site), an update on how EPA is moving forward to cleanup, and a discussion around how EPA coordinates with Tribes at the Site. The Site spans about 10 miles of the Lower Willamette River in Portland, OR, has 64 contaminants of concern and over 150 potentially responsible parties. In 2017 EPA released a final cleanup plan to address contamination in the sediment, surface water, and groundwater that poses an unacceptable risk to human health and the environment. The Site is currently in the Remedial Design phase. A Technical Coordinating Team (TCT) was established consisting of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, six Tribes, and natural resource trustees. The TCT provides a framework for coordination and cooperation in the management of the Site.
