This presentation was delivered as part of the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum: Virtual Gathering in August 2021 by Dianne Barton and Susan Hanson with the National Tribal Toxics Council, Laurie Suter with the Tohono O'odham Nation, and Lynn Zender with the Zender Environmental Health and Research Group.

The National Tribal Toxic Council will tell the story of TSCA - the federal law that governs chemicals in commerce - and discuss current TSCA issues that are being determined now that can finally protect tribal risks from to toxics in the bulk of products in the U.S. market. Ever wanted to just focus on restoring lands and not have to worry about new contamination in your foods and waters? There is a real opportunity to ensure that TSCA decisions being made now 1) can provide you with meaningful information on the risks to tribal peoples of high priority toxics, and 2) reduce and even ban chemicals that impact tribal lifeways. After presenting the issues, NTTC will be asking the audience what their concerns are and their opinions on certain key questions that can move TSCA in the direction right for tribes.
