This presentation will be jointly presented by the attorney and Tribal program director who are currently working on the project to be discussed. The Tribe is planning for future generations to restore the Reservation Homeland and establish an example of creative problem solving to guide other Tribes. This discussion involves an EPA designated Environmental Justice community that ihas been struggling to improve its quality of life and economic well-being while overshadowed by the presence of an NPL Superfund Site within the exterior boundaries of its Reservation Homeland.

40:29: This joint presentation by Tribal professional staff and Special Environmental Counsel will serve as a real world demonstration of creative problem solving that will provide encouragement and guidance to Tribal professional to think outside of the box. Here, a contaminated fee land site had adversely impacted Reservation Homeland resources for over 31 years. This presentation will describe a Tribal Assessment and Site Cleanup story that implements an integrated blend of Tribal law, and EPA policy directives with strong Tribal technical skills to find a workable solution at a complicated site. Topics included are: Tribal Hazardous Substance law; Wild Rice Waterbody Protection; Prospective Purchaser Agreement; Federal Agency Consultation; and Dealing with State Agencies.
