Speakers in this session will share broad perspectives on recent EPA toxic chemical policies, actions, science and the intersection with Tribal sovereignty. Specific examples of recent advances in TSCA risk evaluation considerations and data collection will be contrasted with plans to weaken toxic management rules on several chemical classes. Topics will include:
- Discussion of EPA's inclusion of unique tribal exposures in recent TSCA risk evaluations i.e. 1,4 Dioxane, TCEP DIDP.
- EPA's efforts to supplement exposure data for tribal populations used in risk evaluations of toxic chemicals i.e. Seafood Consumption Project, Tribal Exposure Framework document, Exposure Factors handbook
- Federal response to the TSCA Section 21 petition submitted by tribes to regulate 6PPD
- EPA plans to weaken rules on PFAS and House Bills that threaten to overturn EPA rules on TCE, deca-BDE and other emerging contaminants
