The objective of the EPA short course is to provide a detailed overview of the Oil Program AST/SPCC inspection process and how tribal partners can get involved in Oil Spill Prevention. This course will including content on:
• The federal SPCC inspection process
- What do we look for?
- The steps of a typical AST/SPCC inspection
• Report out on findings from the 2018/19 inspection data review
• Interactive review of inspection findings with photographs of common deficiencies
• How EPA and tribes can work together on SPCC and Oil Program issues
- Targeting for EPA
- Credentialing tribal staff as SPCC inspectors
- Case study on Region 6 and the Osage partnership on inspector credentialing
• Q&A
The course will be instructed by the EPA national AST/SPCC subject mater expert (SME). The target audience is tribal: inspectors, planners, fire officials, code officials, Tribal Emergency Response Commissions & Tribal Emergency Planning Committee members, environmental staff and AST owners and/or operators. Attendees can coordinate with the instructor to obtain additional resources in the form of specialized training designed to provide EPA oil inspection credentials to tribal partners.
