Monica Rusk presented a general presentation last year on the National Pollution Funds Center and natural resource damage assessment (NRDA) funding potentially available to the tribes for oil spills. I would like to go a layer deeper and provide more or a practical tutorial in how to efficiently request and obtain the funding with respect to the preassessment phase (time period immediately following the spill). Walk through a sample funding request (initiate), discuss the types of information and documentation that would be needed, and potentially/ideally provide a take home desk reference/tutorial. Goal is to enable the tribes to have the tools needed to obtain NRDA funding without relying on federal and/or state trustee agencies.
AND
New this year, an update on OEM EJ Action Plan, Justice 40 programs, and the memo to establish EJ Facilitators within Incident Command. OEM Tribal Coordinator will provide an update on TWAR Priority activities, regulatory consultation, Waters of the U.S. oil spill prevention, OEM tribal webinars, and tribal activities since last year. You will learn how the EPA's Office of Emergency Management functions and interacts with Tribes to help build capacity and understanding of how our programs can serve Tribes. A tribal rep is invited to speak on OEM related matters to give their perspective on incident prevention, preparedness, and response.
