EPA has awarded $60 million in grant funding to 58 Tribal Nations and Intertribal Consortia through the Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling Grants. Attendees will hear from grantees about how SWIFR funding has enabled significant improvements to their recycling and waste management systems including critical planning activities, increasing solid waste measurement, establishing and enhancing transfer and composting facilities, and purchasing much-needed equipment to facilitate the collection and recycling of materials.
Tribal SWIFR grantees will also share how they navigated complex grant requirements like National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPP) with assistance from EPA.
This session will be facilitated by Janice Sims (Acting Director, U.S. EPA Resource Conservation and Sustainability Division).
