The Brownfields Tribal Response Grants awarded under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) provide a tremendous opportunity for the revitalization of Indian land and communities. In Montana, many Tribes are utilizing BIL funding to address a wide variety of environmental issues including redevelopment of blighted properties, restoring and increasing housing, and remediating contamination. This session highlights our work with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) and the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes (FPT) and provides a discussion for continued brownfields implementation on Indian Land.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is a once-in-a-generation investment in infrastructure across the nation. As a result of this legislation, EPA will be investing more than $60 billion in the health, equity, and resilience of American communities, including resources for Tribal Nations and their communities. OLEM is excited to share what our office has been doing over the past year with BIL funds in Indian country - supporting Brownfields and land revitalization, recycling infrastructure and education, and cleanup activities at Superfund sites. This session will include a report out on BIL-funded programs and activities in OLEM and provide information about when and how tribes can apply for upcoming funding opportunities. We also hope to have 1-2 tribal speakers who have received BIL funds share what they are going to do with funds and provide advice on how to successfully apply for funding.
