It is getting tougher to secure federal funding, but while having more funds would be helpful, removing inefficiencies and maximizing effectiveness can be the solution. ORCR's Tribal workgroup studied solid waste costs nationally. The La Jolla Band of Lusieno Indians will point out some of the benefits of participation on the workgroup. EPA and IHS launched new training opportunities free to Tribes. Speakers will discuss these training contracts servicing tribes at no cost. Lastly, EPA and IHS have been collaborating on open dump cleanups. A quick refresher on obtaining a free license to use the new app, plus newly available funding for phase I and phase II site assessments will be covered to help determine if your open dumps qualify for EPA or IHS cleanups.
