National Tribal Water Council

The National Tribal Water Council is a technical and scientific body created to assist the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with research and information for decision-making on water quality related concerns that impact Indigenous Peoples throughout Indian Country. It is the intent of the NTWC to advocate for the health and sustainability of clean and safe water, and for the productive use of water for the health and well-being of tribal communities throughout Indian Country.

What We Do:

Ā·         Collaboration - Holds two in-person meetings annually, conducts monthly conference calls, and works to address priority water quality issues impacting Indian Country.

Ā·         Information Exchange and Outreach – Works to enhance involvement in regional, national, and work group meetings, conducts informational webinars, and develops training or informational sessions for the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum.

Ā·         Policy Response  – Develops a response to water related policies and initiatives that impact Tribes, the Council, in collaboration with subject matter and legal experts. Policy response includes a comment letter, template comment letter, and fact sheet.
